Better Than It Used to Be

Today I was feeling sorry for myself, I was hobbling in the rain to work after hurting my bonk leg paying rugby against Caerphilly. I was constantly thinking about my poor mother who is going into Hospital to have a big unpleasant operation which will hopefully catch the cancer in time.

I realised how lucky I was that science has progressed  to such a degree that, my mother is being treated (for the second time) against a disease that only a few decades ago would of been terminal. To an extremely lesser extent the fact that I am walking on my foot, never mind playing rugby, is down to scientific progress.

Religous people just pray and ascertain that whatever happens is their Gods will, the outcome is what was decided at the inception of the universe, their fate was already mapped out.  Atheists like myself are thankful that people of reason and logic fight against what first seems, improabable and progress to solutions or treatments than people can now take for granted.

Im joining the British Humanist Society now.
